I was assigned to the West/PAC fleet between Feb. 1976 to Feb 1979. I achieved the rank of Engineman Third Class Petty Officer. I performed assigned maintenance on emergency diesel generators and fire pumps. I also was assigned to work on planned maintenance on hydraulic wenches and booms and helped with refrigeration systems during at sea resupply missions.

These missions included around-the-clock resupply of whole carrier groups at sea. Our resupply missions included the simultaneous resupply of three ships at once while maintaining a steady course at an undisclosed speed. These resupply missions took us to the Philippine Islands, Taiwan and Japan. The average age of the men on board was 20 yrs old, a tribute to the caliber and training in the highest tradition of the U.S. Navy. I was proud to serve.
